Iaps4fusion is the annual excursion for all IAPS members to come to the UK and have an exciting weekend learning about fusion and particle physics.
The date for this year’s iaps4fusion is 3-7th December
Registration is not open yet but please contact James.Kneller@iaps.info if you’re interested in attending and for more info.
Some information on where we will be visiting:
– The University of Oxford, a historical academic institution in both science and humanities, will be our first destination. We will spend two full days in Oxford, also visiting the wonderful city and some of the colleges.
– The Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE), which hosts the largest fusion reactor in the world, the Joint European Torus (JET). This experimental reactor works on the principle of magnetic plasma confinement. The CCFE also hosts the UK fusion facility, MAST, and is leading the way towards the completion of the international fusion reactor ITER.
– Imperial College London, located in one of the most beautiful areas of the British capital, is a world leader in science, technology and medicine. In our visit, we will explore some more areas of plasma physics, including astrophysical plasmas, z-pinch machines and simulation of laser-plasma interactions.
